Find Federal Prison Releases

To find someone released from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after a Lamar County connection, trace each custody handoff instead of treating one missing roster result as release. No BOP institution was substantiated inside Lamar County. The federal system matters when a county detainee transfers to U.S. Marshals custody, receives a federal designation, serves a federal sentence, and later leaves BOP custody. The BOP locator can show a release date or a no-longer-in-custody status, but another agency or federal supervision may still apply.

BOP Lamar Transfer Path

The Federal Bureau of Prisons runs a nationwide prison system for federal sentences. It does not operate Lamar County Jail, and no BOP institution was found in Lamar County. A local federal path may begin with a county arrest or hold, continue through delivery to the U.S. Marshals Service, and later reach BOP after court action and designation. Each agency creates a different record.

Start with Lamar County Jail when the person first disappeared from its roster. Ask for the actual transfer entry, date and time, disposition, and receiving authority. “Released to USMS” means the county booking ended because federal custody began. It does not mean the person entered the community. The federal docket then supplies the case and detention authority. BOP becomes the useful public locator after designation or imprisonment.

Stage Record source What it can confirm
Lamar booking ends County release or transfer sheet USMS or other receiving authority
Federal pretrial custody Federal docket and USMS Detention and court orders
Federal sentence BOP locator Register number, location, release date
After BOP BOP status and federal court Prison exit and possible supervision

Search BOP Lamar Records

The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 to the present. Search by BOP Register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number. A name search allows first, middle, and last name with optional race, age, and sex. The register number is the best key when it is known.

  1. Obtain the federal name spelling and number from the docket or custody record.
  2. Search the official BOP locator by identifier first.
  3. If using a name, add only accurate narrowing details.
  4. Compare the register number and identity fields.
  5. Read location, status, and release date in the federal context.

Results can display name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. A current institution points to BOP custody. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” means the person is not held by BOP at that time, but it is not a universal statement about every justice agency. BOP warns that custody elsewhere or community supervision may still apply.

The Lamar County release-record search remains the correct source for the county booking's end. The BOP result answers the later federal question and should not replace the Lamar transfer entry.

BOP Release Date Limits

A BOP release date concerns federal prison custody. It does not show the exact time Lamar County custody ended, nor does it prove the person had no later state, local, or immigration hold. First Step Act recalculations can also make a displayed date temporarily stale, according to BOP. Recheck the locator when timing matters and compare it with the federal judgment and later docket entries.

Federal supervised release is different from BOP imprisonment. A person can leave the institution and remain subject to federal court conditions overseen in the community. The BOP locator is not a full supervision register. Review the judgment and docket for the imposed supervision term and any later modification, revocation, or discharge action.

Important: “Not in BOP Custody” is not proof that all custody ended. Check the federal docket and any named receiving agency.

A displayed release date is useful historical evidence for the federal prison phase. Still, it must be tied to the correct person and register number. Names alone can collide. Preserve the retrieval date and the matching docket information.

BOP Lamar Release Records

The strongest release chain begins with existing records from each agency. Request Lamar County's transfer sheet for the local exit. Obtain the federal judgment, detention orders, sentencing document, and later supervision actions from the court docket. Use BOP's locator for public status, then request an existing BOP record if a formal federal prison release fact is needed.

USMS does not provide a public historical inmate locator like BOP. The U.S. Marshals FOIA route can be used for an identifiable existing record, subject to privacy and law-enforcement limits. A federal court docket or responsible district office may be more direct for the legal custody trail. Once BOP designation appears, the BOP number becomes the most stable public search key.

Frame a records request around a named document and event. Include the person's full name, known register or case number, approximate dates, Lamar transfer information, and the precise record sought. Do not ask an agency to create a timeline or legal conclusion. Ask for the public portions and the basis for any withheld material.

Designation
The federal process placing a sentenced person at a BOP institution or program.
Register number
The identifying BOP number used for the strongest locator search.
Supervised release
Federal court supervision after prison, distinct from BOP custody.
Detainer
A notice that another authority may seek custody after the current hold.

BOP and Lamar Custody

County and federal records should not be merged. Lamar's roster is current county custody. A county release sheet records the end of that booking. USMS may hold or transport a federal pretrial detainee. BOP tracks federal imprisonment after designation. The court docket explains detention, sentence, and supervised release. One system cannot prove every stage.

This separation is crucial when a person is out of Lamar's jail but not yet searchable in BOP. There can be a period of USMS custody, transport, court processing, or designation. A BOP no-result at that point does not show community release. Follow the receiving authority named in the Lamar transfer entry and the federal case number.

The reverse also matters. A person can leave BOP custody and face an immigration handoff or another jurisdiction's hold. The BOP date marks the federal prison exit, while the receiving record establishes continued detention. Ask specifically whether the recorded outcome was release to the community, transfer, or commencement of supervised release.

Note: BOP is irrelevant to a Lamar bond release that never entered the federal system.

BOP Lamar Identity Checks

Identity errors are easy when a common name appears in a national database. Use the register number from the federal docket, judgment, or custody paperwork whenever possible. If only a name is known, compare age, race, sex, middle name, court district, case dates, and the Lamar transfer information. Do not force a match because a release date seems close.

An INS number may be one of the identifier options in BOP, but that does not mean BOP is the ICE detainee locator. The systems have different missions and data. For current immigration detention, use ICE ODLS and ERO. For federal prison custody, use BOP. For USMS pretrial transport, use the docket and Marshals route.

Keep a short source log with the exact identifier, retrieval date, status wording, and agency. This makes later updates easier to reconcile. It also preserves the distinction between a projected date, a displayed BOP release date, and an actual transfer to another agency.

BOP Serving Lamar County

Because no local BOP institution was substantiated, there is no legitimate Lamar County BOP street address to publish. The serving “facility” is the nationwide federal prison system. The person's current BOP Location field, not the county name, identifies the actual institution. Use that official institution page only after confirming the match.

For a local starting point, call Lamar County Jail at 601-794-1088 and seek the transfer entry. For the federal case, use the responsible federal court docket. For a BOP status, use the official locator. For USMS records, use the district office or FOIA process. This route avoids inventing a local federal prison and directs each question to the record creator.

The absence of a local prison does not make the federal path hypothetical. Lamar County Jail can serve as a transfer point. What matters is a documented receiving authority, not an assumed local building.

BOP Lamar Record Reconciliation

Federal custody records can update at different times. A Lamar transfer entry may precede a visible BOP result because USMS transport, court action, and designation occur first. A federal judgment can establish the sentence before BOP posts a location. Later, a BOP release date may precede a docket entry about supervision or another proceeding. Preserve each date with its source and stated meaning.

When two sources appear to conflict, compare the identifier and event rather than choosing one in isolation. The county record concerns the local booking. The docket concerns judicial authority. BOP concerns federal imprisonment. A receiving-agency record concerns any next custody. Ask for a correction through the agency that created the disputed record, and request the underlying existing document when a public locator lacks enough detail.

This method also helps with old cases. The BOP locator reaches back to federal incarceration from 1982, but a public result is still a summary. The judgment, docket, and release record may be needed to explain the sentence, exit, supervision, or later custody in a way the locator cannot.
