Find Lamar County Release Dates

A Lamar County projected release date depends on where the person is held and whether a sentence has been imposed. A pretrial detainee usually has no fixed date because bond, court orders, holds, and case outcomes control the next custody event. A sentenced state prisoner may have a computed tentative date in the corrections record. That date can move. To answer “when will they be released,” match the person to the correct custody system, read the date as a projection, and later confirm the actual event through the releasing agency. County jail time and a state prison term follow different computation paths.

Lamar County Projected Versus Actual Release

Mississippi Department of Corrections uses the exact label Tentative Release Date. It is planning data for a Lamar County state sentence, not proof that release happened. MDOC computes sentence terms, parole dates, earned-release supervision dates, tentative release or discharge dates, and maximum dates. The Lamar County public field can change as legal and administrative facts change. An actual release record documents the completed custody event and identifies the releasing agency.

A pretrial person at Lamar County Jail normally has no computed MDOC date. Bond, a dismissal, a court order, another hold, or later sentencing controls what happens. Even after a judge signs an order, the jail may need to verify identity, clear holds, process property, and complete release steps. A county-sentenced person also follows the judgment and the jail’s local computation rather than a state prison field, unless MDOC custody is part of the sentence.

Scheduled versus actual: A tentative date predicts a possible state release. Only current status and a release or discharge record confirm that it occurred.

The custody track comes first. A Lamar roster disappearance may mean transfer to MDOC rather than community release. In that case, the state Location and Unit fields explain where custody continued. A future tentative date then concerns the state sentence, not the earlier county booking.

Find a Lamar County Projected Release

Use the last known Lamar County custody and sentence status to choose the source. The MDOC inmate search is appropriate when the jail reports a state transfer or the person is serving a Mississippi prison sentence. It accepts first name, last name, and MDOC ID number. The number is the safer key because names can collide. Compare date of birth, county of conviction, offense, sentence date, Location, Unit, Entry Date, and Location Change Date before reading the Lamar County tentative date.

For a county-only term, obtain the judgment and ask Lamar County Jail for its existing computation or release record. For a pretrial case, check the bond or release order in Justice Court and the later felony case in Circuit Court when relevant. Court action supplies legal authority. The jail record supplies the physical exit time.

  1. Classify the case as pretrial county custody, a county sentence, or a state sentence.
  2. For state custody, search by MDOC number when possible and verify identity before reading any date.
  3. Record the Location, Unit, sentence facts, and Tentative Release Date with the access date.
  4. For county custody, obtain the judgment, credited days, any hold information, and the jail’s existing computation or release entry.
  5. Near the expected event, confirm current status with the agency that has custody. Do not assume that the projection became an actual release.

The Lamar County released inmate lookup gives the full county, court, state, and federal confirmation path when the last custody system is uncertain.

Note: An MDOC search is not the right source for a Lamar bond release when the person never entered state corrections custody.

Lamar County MDOC Release Fields

The public MDOC detail record can show identity, physical descriptors, an MDOC photo, Entry Date, Location, Unit, Location Change Date, number of sentences, total length, offense, county of conviction, sentence date, and Tentative Release Date. Each Lamar County field has a role. Location and Unit show the present state placement. County of conviction connects the sentence to Lamar only when Lamar is actually listed. The tentative field is a computed point, while an actual Lamar County discharge record answers whether state custody ended.

The official detail capture is a field demonstration, not a released-person example. View the MDOC source used to confirm the Tentative Release Date label.

Lamar County Earned-Time Release Rules

Miss. Code § 47-5-138 is central to the familiar “85 percent” shorthand. For many qualifying post-June 30, 1995 sentences, subsection (5) authorizes 4.5 days of earned-time allowance for each 30 days served and caps the allowance at 15 percent of the sentence. Eighty-five percent is the arithmetic remainder after the maximum allowance. It is not a universal promise that every person will leave at that point.

Eligibility limits and exceptions apply. Earned time can also be forfeited. Subsection (6) states that a person released before the term expires under earned-release supervision remains an inmate under MDOC jurisdiction through the unexpired term and is supervised in a manner like parole. Thus a physical exit under ERS is not final discharge. The status and its end date must be read from the controlling computation and record.

Lamar County parole eligibility uses a different law and calculation. Section 47-7-3 includes offense and sentence-based exclusions and different thresholds for qualifying categories. Earned or good time does not reduce the minimum required for parole eligibility. Eligibility only permits consideration. It does not guarantee a Lamar County grant or release date.

Note: Apply the current statute to the actual offense date and sentence; a single percentage cannot safely predict every Mississippi release.

Lamar County Jail Credit

County jail credit can affect a later state computation. MDOC’s handbook says eligible time spent in county jail before sentence on the cause number for the current incarceration is requested from the county of conviction. Allowable credit is then used to establish the sentence-begin date. The public tentative field does not reveal each underlying step. A person who thinks Lamar credit is missing should use the case-manager and time-computation process.

An outside requester can ask for an existing sentence-computation or time sheet. The request should identify the person, MDOC number, sentence, and cause number. MDOC does not have to create a new calculation or answer a custom math problem. The MDOC GovQA portal provides the written records route.

Do not apply the state 15-percent earned-time rule automatically to a Lamar county-only sentence. No official Lamar County Jail good-time or weekend-release policy was located. Obtain the judgment, credited days, applicable jail policy, and actual release entry. The jail or court computes that local term under the governing law and orders.

Why Lamar County Release Dates Change

A Lamar County projected date is a result of inputs, not a fixed promise. Some changes correct the sentence record. Others arise after misconduct, a new legal action, a parole decision, or an unresolved Lamar County release plan. MDOC’s release process can also continue beyond the date a reader expected because final checks and a discharge certificate are required.

Why did the date pass? The public field may not yet reflect a new input, or release processing may still be open. Check actual status and ask for the controlling record instead of assuming an accomplished release.

Lamar County Pre-Release Notice Records

Mississippi law creates a distinctive agency record before certain MDOC releases. The enrolled House Bill 585 text reproducing Miss. Code § 47-5-177 describes notice to specified law-enforcement officials at least 15 days before release due to discharge, parole, pardon, temporary leave or pass, or another covered route. It also describes added notice to a receiving county when parole will occur in a county different from the county of conviction.

This notice is not a public online Lamar County release list. It is also not proof that the release occurred on the planned date. Still, it identifies a real, narrow record that may help when a qualifying state release is approaching. A request should name the person, MDOC number, expected period, and the existing notice sought. Broad questions asking an agency to compile predictions are less precise.

Read a notice with the later MDOC status and discharge record. A plan can change because of a detainer, Board action, residence approval, sentence correction, or administrative processing. The notice establishes that an agency communication was made under the statute, not that custody ended.

Note: Pre-release notice supports a timeline, but the releasing agency’s final record controls whether and when the person left custody.

Confirm Lamar County Actual Release

As the tentative date approaches, check the current MDOC detail and the named facility. A state Location still shown after Lamar’s roster entry vanished supports transfer into state custody, not community release. For a county sentence, call Lamar County Jail at 601-794-1088 and ask for the actual release date, time, type, and destination in the existing release entry. If another agency received the person, continue with that system.

MS SAVIN/VINE can send a release, transfer, or custody-change notice for participating county and state records. Registration is useful for a pending event, but the notice should be confirmed with the named agency. The Lamar County VINELink release check explains the specific-person search, registration channels, and Registration Link continuity.

A state parolee-search match can support conditional release to parole. It does not prove final discharge. For the formal end of supervision, seek the Board or court order and, where applicable, the MDOC discharge record. Dates answer different questions, so label each one: projected, eligibility, hearing, court order, physical release, or final discharge.
